2023 Event Offerings

Halloween events officially began in 1988 at Six Flags Over Texas and expanded to several other parks within the Six Flags chain in the seasons to follow. The first Halloween-related activity at Six Flags Over Texas took place in 1973 and featured a parade and roaming monsters. In 1988, an annual Halloween event, Fright Nights, debuted. The event has always boasted spooky decor and other related live entertainment. The 1992 season brought on the birth of Fright Fest. In 1999, the Six Flags chain had a series of haunted houses themed around Alice Cooper.

Over the years, several Six Flags parks have had other popular themed houses as well. However, as of 2017, all haunted houses are specially themed by each park. One production, Welcome to Arania’s Nightmare, ran for twenty-five seasons inside the Southern Palace Theatre. After a one-year hiatus, Fright Fest returned to Six Flags Over Texas in 2021 with new shows, haunted houses and attractions.

Six Flags Over Texas features a number of live entertainment options during Fright Fest. All shows are free with entry to the park. Fright Fest shows tend to be popular, so we recommend arriving to venues earlier than planned.

Arania's Afterlife

Gotham City Stage
New for 2023, do you ever wonder about Arania’s 13 dead husbands? Find out their haunting fates in the afterlife. Plus, stick around for an exciting Fright Fest rave.
The Awakening

Silver Star Carousel Stage
Returning for 2023, The Awakening is everyone's notice that things are about to become incredibly scary around the park. Gather near Silver Star Carousel as Fright Fest monsters are unleashed into the park.
DJ Doom's Boogie Bash

Silver Star Carousel Stage
Debuting for Fright Fest 2023, this closing show, hosted DJ Doom, features high-energy music, dancing and visual effects brought on by supernatural creatures.
DJ Doom's Flash Mob

Park-Wide
Always have eyes on the back of your head as DJ Doom’s crew of monsters and ghouls creep throughout the park, scaring guests and dancing.
Dr. H.H. Holmes' Freak Show

Southern Palace Theatre
New for 2023, Dr. H.H. Holmes’ Freak Show debuts at the Southern Palace Theatre. The engulfing horror story, fit for frights, features specialty acts, live singers, dancers and more.
Marquis of Vaudeville

Silver Star Carousel Stage
The Marquis of Vaudeville bring their talents to Silver Star Carousel Stage with a mix of punk cabaret stylings and alternative rock music that brings the spooky spirit to life.

Several spooky haunted houses are located throughout Six Flags Over Texas during Fright Fest. These attractions can be enjoyed at an additional fee. Please note that haunted houses feature intense themes, strobe lighting, fog and other effects.

Arania's Murder Mansion

Gotham City
Returning in 2023, legend says that Arania is looking for revenge against those who banished her. Step into this untrusting mansion, which also happens to be on the same estate as the graves of her former 13 husbands.

The Art of Torture

Beware stepping into this abandoned warehouse as you’ll be haunted by those who have entered before. Venture through several gruesome and twisted displays that will make even the sight of blood seem tame.

Curse of Ra

Texas Arena
Entering this portal will transport you to the Valley of Kings where the great Egyptian deity Ra’s tomb is buried. It is said that Ra’s sixty-seven children, along with all of his gold and jewels, are buried in this tomb. Though “Death To All That Enter” is engraved at the entrance, don’t be deterred.

DeADclassified

Gotham City
Be on alert when getting close to this mysterious bio-engineering laboratory as it has had a breakout. Creatures and other specimens have escaped the facility, lurking and attacking from its dark corners. Rescuers have also been contaminated with the deadly bio-toxins. Attempt to survive to tell the tale of this classified terror.

Piggy's Blood Shed

Back for 2023, come into Piggy's restaurant for a home-cooked meal only to realize you are the prime entree to be served on the restaurant menu! A staple to the park’s house line-up, guests entering will experience high-intensity scares and Piggy’s favorite friends.

Reject Row

Majestic Theatre
Reject Row, new for 2023, features the unfortunate discovery of a hidden lair in an abandoned theatre. Deep inside are down-on-their luck artists with a maniacal twist. Let these crazed performers entertain you.

Wrong Turn on Canal Street

Texas
New for 2023, a wrong turn takes you back to New Orleans in the 1800s. Deep in the city, mysterious, undead figures work to summon the evil that controls them. A step onto Canal Street leads to terrifying interactions with vampires, voodoo queens, pirates and other untrusting individuals.

Scare Zones

Free with your park admission, scare zones are themed areas of the park that feature monsters whom aim to frighten those passing by. The park recommends that guests sensitive to these conditions enjoy the park during the day. Scare zones feature strobe lighting, fog and other intense effects.

Scare zones are activated at 7:00pm after The Awakening at Silver Star Carousel Stage.

Black Widow Walkway

USA
Beware of entering this space as the Black Widow Bride, Arania, unleashes her arachnid-like friends to feast on anyone who is lured into their webs.
Coven Cove

Boomtown
New for 2023, beware of these mysterious witch creatures as they gather, working in tandem, to produce spells on those walking through the park’s Boomtown section.
Ghost Town

Texas
New for 2023, outlaws of the past head back to the Texas section to claim their rightful place in history. The dead are lurking around each corner, waiting to confront your trespass.
Lago de Miedo

Spain
New for 2023, the story of La Llorona is brought to life during Fright Fest. Be cautious of “The Crying Woman” as she weeps over the drowning of her children in a jealous rage.
Scream of the Crop

Tower
New for 2023, are you a fan of the nostalgic crop maze? Don’t be fooled as these pumpkin-like monsters are anything but friendly to those who make their way through the corn.
Toys of Terror

Gotham City
Have you wondered what happens to the toys that never become childhood favorites? Find what’s left of them, brooding in desperation, coming for the playtime they deserve.
Zone 6

Texas
Returning in 2023, horrifying zombies are on the loose. Now roaming near the entrance to Pirates of Speelunker Cave, these living dead are on the hunt for fresh brains.
