SCM’S SECURE AUTHENTICATION PRODUCTS
SCM has built a strong reputation in the security industry as a major supplier of smart card readers to the U.S. government, to major OEMs, and to various financial and enterprise programs in Europe and APAC. In recent years, the Company has also been a significant supplier of contactless infrastructure components for eGovernment and enterprise authentication programs throughout Europe and to large enterprises in Japan.
SCM has a unique position in the smart card reader market, as it is able to leverage its single chip smart card interface solutions for integration into PCs, keyboards and other devices as well as within its own dedicated reader/writer products. SCM’s interface chips feature embedded FLASH for secure and convenient firmware upgrade in the field.
SCM’s contact smart card reader portfolio supports all relevant host interfaces, including USB, Serial, PCMCIA and ExpressCard™; as well as all major operating systems, including Windows®, Mac OS™ and Linux®. In addition, readers support the ISO standardized Smart Card Interface ISO 7816 (T=0 and T=1), and EMV compliant cards as well as memory cards are supported up to 344 kbps.
SCM offers a range of customized contactless reader devices dedicated for system integrators and ePassport, eID or ePayment reader OEMs. Target markets include card customization, personalization, logical and physical access, public transportation, national IDs and driver’s licenses, and others. The Company also offers dual interface reader modules including both contact and contactless interface.
SCM offers a range of demo kits and SDKs for software and application developers as well as for system integrators.

SCM has provided commercial digital media readers for more than 10 years and is the market leader in digital media readers for photo kiosks, with over 80% market share.
SCM originated the modular reader drive concept that helps customers reduce repair costs by eliminating the need for a technician and significantly reducing the downtime of the kiosk.
SCM’s digital media readers comply with various agency regulations and are able to provide custom software and firmware where requested.
SCM’S CHIPDRIVE® PRODUCTS
SCM’s CHIPDRIVE-branded packages for small and medium-sized enterprises and individuals offer affordable, customizable solutions for security, identification, home banking and eCommerce, as well as smart card-based time recording and business productivity.
CHIPDRIVE solutions consist of smart cards used for the authentication of individuals such as employees; card readers/terminals for both fixed and mobile, contact and contactless environments; and software to enable productivity applications such as clock in/clock out, time recording, network logon and password management.
CHIPDRIVE packages combine smart card readers with sophisticated software applications to guarantee easy processing of smart card data on a PC.
The CHIPDRIVE Time Recording, DriverCard, Password Management and SIM Card Management solutions are offered at retailers throughout Europe.
