Former Lazy Town star Chloe Lang has opened up about meeting up with fellow Stephanie Splitz actress Julianna Rose Mauriello under very sad circ*mstances in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk. The 21-year-old actress opened up about reuniting with her fellow child star shortly before the death of their beloved co-star Stefan Karl Stefansson, who played Robbie Rotten on the show.

While the pair had never met in real life, Chloe revealed that they did have the chance to meet for the first time in New York to film a video for Stefan before he died. The Icelandic actor, who played the show’s legendary villain between 2004 and 2014, tragically died from cancer at the age of 43.

Chloe started playing the pink-haired character Stephanie a decade ago in the series created by Sportacus actor Magnus Scheving. Before her era of Lazy Town began in 2013, Julianna landed the role for the first two series from 2004 to 2006.

Recalling the close bonds she made during her time filming LazyTown in Iceland when she was just 10 years old, Chloe opened up about her co-star Stefan’s heartbreaking death. Stefan died back in 2018, which was just four years after the series came to an end.

“It all happened really, really fast,” Chloe said. “It was not too long after finishing filming. And it was just a shock.

“He was such a good person with the best energy to have on set,” she continued. “He knew how to make anyone laugh and he just made anyone smile any time he walked into a room.

“I remember getting the news and it was almost kind of hard to believe,” she added sadly.

“And fortunately, I was able to see him after that news, and before he passed away and see his family… But it was hard just to see it unfold like that. I mean, it's not fair.

“But I'm happy that, you know, I got to know him, got to work with him, for as long as I did and make that connection with his family.”

Asked if she had been given the chance to meet original Stephanie actress Julianna in real life, Chloe confirmed that they had been brought together by Stefan’s illness.

“Once before,” Chloe reflected. “She was New York-based at the time, so we met up there and we made a video for Stefan.

“That was the first and last time we met up, but it was really surreal and also very cool. We both were like… I mean, it was under sad circ*mstances.

“So it was a little kind of - not awkward - but emotional. But yeah, it was really cool to meet each other. We were both like, ‘Whoa, [this is] amazing!”

Speaking excitedly about the movie, she said: “We’re now on our third film festival, and it's been getting a lot of great feedback and a lot of great reviews.

“The director is actually working on making a feature film, so there are a lot of things in the works.”
