I really love this recipe it's very easy to make. Like people said, adding white chocolate will be way better with flavors.

so melting, i really liked it!

Really good recipe. Easy but tastes great. We added white chocolate chips which was really yum! PS: The cookies spread quite a lot when cooking, so make sure to give them plenty of space on the oven tray :)

Amazing

I haven't tried this recipe but the ingredients are exactly the same as the Chelsea Sugar recipe called "Chocolate Chip Biscuits"

this recipe was good for my sisters 24th breakfast

These were really good, nice and chewy!

Just turned into a mush do not try!!

This was a dry recipe at the end but adding milk made it a good consistency

I loved it but didnt trust at first because Chelsea Sugar did not test the recipie

They tasted good but this recipe only made 14 small ones for me and it said it would make 30 medium ones

nice!!!!!!!!

I would def use this every day

Ended up quite a dry dough thats unrollable - but once the whole dough is done, just add a small capful of milk and its perfect :)

So sweet they are sickly

Wow I am 9 and I did this real quick, it is so easy and THE BEST cookies I have ever made. :D

They are so good put a few marshmallows in too, so good.

Grandsons love these. And love to help

I followed the recipe word by word (and am an experienced baker). The dough was extremely dry and flakey, the cookies were dry hunks of flour- a complete waste of time and ingredients :-(
I have no idea why so many 5 stars on this feed, I can only assume that the recipe has been altered?
CHELSEA SUGAR: Hi there, sorry to hear that these cookies didn't turn out well for you. We haven't altered the recipe.

Easy as to make and delicious. Definitely a 5/5.

So good, easy to make and so delicious.

I've made this recipe 3 times in 3 weeks. Love this recipe! Nice and soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside. Trying pieces of chopped up white chocolate tonight should be good. I also like to leave mine another extra 2 minutes sometimes if i want nice fully crunchy ones but awesome recipe definitely won't change it.

I finally made the perfect cookies with this recipe! I'm so stoked. I've trialled and tested so many others but this one is my favourite. If you're looking for a chewy cookie recipe then this is the one.

Love this recipe!!

awesome recipe i will use many more times

Anyone who said this recipe turned out trash is SO wrong. Best choc chip cookies ever!!!!

Seriously? There were ingredients that were not even in the method and when I added everything together nothing worked.

Wow. These cookies are possibly the BEST cookies I've EVER tasted. I'm sorry to say this, but I am a yr 7 myself and I don't agree with the people who say it's too sweet. It's not for me!!! :) I say they are DELICIOUS.

Sweet, I loved it.

i like it

This cookies are so easy but so yum

I am 12 and I made them with no help and they were perfect!!!
Highly recommend this for anyone

Amazing so easy and delicious only thing I recommend not to do is put 1/2 cup of caster sugar I just put 1/2 cup of brown sugar because for me it tastes to sweet with both for me. By the way I'm 11 and as a kid sugars great for me so it's saying something for me saying it's to sweet.

I am a kid and it was very easy to make! I highly recommend them☺️

Wow these were easy to make and turned out really well-my kids loved them! :)

Whoop whoop

the chocolate chip cookies turned out really well but i did alter the recipe a bit. If you use this recipe, i recommend that you use one whole cup of chocolate chips instead of half a cup.

I substituted brown sugar for peanut butter - and it was soooo good!

Just made these, absolutly amazing! so easy to make. DELICIOUS

So quick & easy and the cookies are delish!! My new fave choc chip recipe. The dough is also too hard to resist so let's just say some of the batch didn't quite make it to the oven...

Yummy, and so easy to make

Taste a little too eggy for me. I prefer cookies with out the egg. Edmunds with the condensed milk will always be my favourite I think.

My husband thought this was my best batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies

Delicious with amazing texture.

Fantastic, go-to recipe! I put my cookies in for 16 minutes though, perfect!

What happens if you don't add enough sugar to cookies? ›

When you decrease the sugar in a cookie recipe, you won't just get a result that's less sweet. You'll get cookies that are harder, drier, crumblier, and spread far less. It was also interesting to note that decreasing the sugar also yielded 1 less cookie dough ball.

What happens if you add too much granulated sugar to cookies? ›

Adding too much sugar to cookie dough can result in a number of issues, such as making the dough too sticky, causing it to spread too much during baking, and making the final product overly sweet.

How much sugar is in homemade cookies? ›

Typically, a homemade chocolate chip cookie might contain anywhere from 2 to 4 teaspoons of sugar per cookie. This amount combines both the white and brown sugars that are commonly used in recipes to give those cookies their classic, chewy texture and rich, caramel-like flavor.

What happens when you add too much butter to sugar cookies? ›

Butter is an emulsifier and it makes cookies tender. It also adds in the crispy-around-the-edges element. Adding too much butter can cause the cookies to be flat and greasy. Adding too little butter can cause the cookies to be tough and crumbly.

What happens if you only use white sugar in cookies? ›

1. Granulated sugar. Using granulated white sugar will result in a flatter, crispier and lighter-colored cookie. Granulated sugar is hygroscopic, so it attracts and absorbs the liquid in the dough.

What makes cookies fluffy and not flat? ›

Room temperature butter is just the right consistency to incorporate air when it's creamed with sugar. These trapped air pockets result in risen, fluffy cookies. If the butter is any warmer, it won't incorporate enough air and your cookies will have less rise.

What happens if you forget to add brown sugar to cookies? ›

What happens when you bake without brown sugar? To be succinct, the resulting baked good could be slightly drier or more crisp. Without the excess moisture from the molasses in the brown sugar, the final cookie won't be as chewy and the final bread might be drier.

What is the best sugar for cookies? ›

In that role, white sugar aerates the dough when creamed with butter for thick and puffy cookies. Brown sugar, meanwhile, is dense and compacts easily, creating fewer air pockets during creaming—that means that there's less opportunity to entrap gas, creating cookies that rise less and spread more.

What to do if you add too much sugar? ›

If your dish is a little too sweet, try rounding out the sweetness by adding flavors or ingredients that are sour, bitter, or spicy. It may be obvious not to add more sweet ingredients, but you should also stay away from salty ones since they actually bring out the sweetness in food.

How to fix chocolate chip cookie dough with too much sugar? ›

For example, you can add a little more flour, butter, or any other dry ingredients called for in the recipe. This can help dilute the extra sugar and bring the flavors back into balance [1]. Double the recipe: Another option is to double the rest of the recipe, excluding the sugar.

Why do my chocolate chip cookies come out cakey? ›

When cookies are too cakey, there are two main culprits: too much leavening (baking powder or baking soda) or too much egg. If there is too much baking powder or baking soda in the dough, the cookies will rise too much when baking, creating a cakier structure. Eggs also promote a cakey structure in cookies.

Is it better to use powdered sugar or granulated sugar in sugar cookies? ›

Granulated sugar also helps tenderize batters and binds with water to keep baked goods moist. Powdered sugar in cookie dough will give you chewier cookies (if there's egg in the recipe).
