The Bubble Bath Halloween costume is easy and fun – and it allows you to be creative with stuff you have at home. Put your hair in curlers, rollers, or a towel turban. Carry a bathrobe or loofah back scratcher. Attach white balloons to your body; you might even make a bathtub out of white poster board. “Bag” Lady
When I was growing up, we called homeless women who lived on the street and in shelters “bag ladies.” This easy homemade Halloween costume for women is a play on that idea (but it may not be the most politically correct costume idea). Tape a variety of paper and plastic bags together. You could also staple them to an old jogging suit or pantsuit. You’re a Bag Lady! Get it? This Halloween costume could also tell the story of our environment and all the garbage we throw away, too.
24 Carrots of Gold (a homemade Halloween costume for women who are foodies)
Wear a gold or orange pantsuit or dress, and tie 24 real carrots all over your body. This “punny” Halloween idea is a play on jewelry or other things made of 24 Karat Gold. It’s also an easy homemade Halloween costume. Consider using baby carrots instead of full size ones, and wearing gold glitter in your hair.

Alice in Wonderland
A traditional Alice in Wonderland Halloween costume for women is simple to make at home. Do you have a light blue dress with puffy sleeves? Add white socks and black Baby Jane shoes, and you’re dressed for the costume party.
Alternatively…you could search for Goth, Dark, or Steampunk Alice in Wonderland Halloween Costumes for Women. The one on Amazon is pretty good, but it’s not exactly easy or homemade. I like it because it’s edgy – especially for women who don’t normally dress tough!
Baby Girl
This is my least favorite costume for women, but it was submitted by a reader so I’m including it. She said it’s the easiest Halloween costume she’s ever made at home, and wanted to share it with you. It’s easy, that’s for sure. To be a Baby Girl, simply put on a long white a nightgown and slippers. Paint red rouge or lipstick on your cheeks. Pull your hair back with a pretty ribbon, and stick a pacifier in your mouth. You’re a baby, girl!
Birthday Girl
This is an easy Halloween costume for women – and it can be adapted to be a family’s or couple’s costume. Buy a birthday kit from the dollar store (the one that includes paper napkins, tablecloth, birthday hats, plates, etc). Glue all the birthday items to a form-fitting track or body suit. Don’t forget to wear a birthday hat! You could also call this Halloween costume the “Birthday Suit.”
Poem (a super easy Halloween costume for women!)
Have you ever seen those little fridge magnets, all with a different word on them? It’s called magnetic word poetry; you can get a variety of different themes. Shakespeare, pirate, happiness, geek, crazy kitty.
To be a poem for Halloween, simply glue those little fridge magnets all over a white body suit. You can make sentences, or paste the words randomly. The Magnetic Poetry – Little Box of Awesome Kit is the most popular on Amazon.
Dolls R Us (a play on Toys R Us)
Are you into construction, home renovation, and carpentry? This is one of those easy homemade Halloween costumes for women who labor with their hands and bodies all week, and want to add a girly splash to life. If you work in the home hardware, repair or construction industry, why not add a touch of girlishness to your story? To be “Dolls R Us” on Halloween, just put on your painters’ coveralls or even a pair of overalls. Pin big and little baby dolls (paper or real) all over the coveralls. Wear a sign that says “Dolls R Us” or “All Dolled Up.” You’re a doll!
Biker Babe
This is two easy costumes in one: a baby costume and a biker costume. Dress in traditional baby gear (eg, diaper, baby bottle, baby bonnet, baby rattle) and traditional biker chick garb (eg, leather jacket, red bandana, biker boots). You’re a biker, babe!
Finding an easy Halloween costume that suits your personality isn’t always a simple task. You want to be comfortable in the costume you choose to wear, and it may take the sewing skills of a seamstress to make it the way you want it! I love ornate embroidered clothes, but I’d never spend the time it takes to make a homemade embroidered Halloween costume – no matter how much time I had to create it.

The costume pictured comes with a hooded cape with chain closure, tunic dress with lace-up front, attached strap, printed gauntlets and waist cinching belt. The boots aren’t included. Many women who buy this Halloween costume also get the men’s Robin Hood costume. What a pair!

Be careful if you’re planning to weartinted contact lenses. They’re an easy and effective accessory for a woman’s homemade Halloween costume, but they actually shouldn’t be worn without a prescription from a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist. In fact, it’s against the law to sell decorative contact lenses without a prescription. Non-prescription Halloween contact lens come in colors like white zombie, red vampire and “sexy sapphire.” They’re sold in beauty shops, costume stores and over the internet.If you do choose to buy tinted contact lenses as part of your Halloween costume, don’t share them with a friend. Wear them properly and disinfect them with contact lens solution if you’re re-using them.
